Ten Best Spy Gadgets

This post is all about the 10 best spy gadgets that have ever been invented. From a gun made out of a tube of lipstick to a poison umbrella, they are all here right out of a James Bond movie.

Lipstick Pistol
“It’s a classic,” Boghardt, the International Spy Museum’s historian, says of this 4.5 millimeter single-shot weapon, presumably taken from a KGB agent in the mid-1960s. While it’s unclear whether this dangerous “kiss of death” was ever used, a cyanide pistol was used for assassination in that era. These covert weapons are surviving examples of the “active measures” that were taken in this time period, unlike many of their intended targets.

Unusual Luxury Yacht

By panta

A yacht is a high end recreational boat. The term designates two rather different classes of watercraft, sailing and power boats. Yachts are different from working ships mainly by their leisure purpose, and it was not until the rise of the steamboat and other types of powerboat that sailing vessels in general came to be perceived as luxury, or recreational vessels. Later the term came to encompass motor boats for primarily private pleasure purposes as well.

Sony's Biggest Misses

The PlayStation Vita won't hit store shelves for another month, but some critics are already declaring it a disaster, based on early sales returns. That's quite premature - not to mention a bit fatalistic - but you don't get to become a multi-billion dollar, multinational company without making a few mistakes. For every Walkman and Playstation 2 there exists a handful of other Sony ideas that didn't ring true with consumers. Some were critical flops. Some had disappointing sales. Some weren't even physical products. But, in the end, all of them fell short in one way or another. Here's hoping the Vita avoids the fate of these Sony misfires.

Cranky Croc Steals Aussie Zoo Worker's Lawn Mower

SYDNEY (AP) — A giant saltwater crocodile named Elvis with an apparent affinity for household machinery charged at an Australian reptile park worker Wednesday before stealing his lawn mower.

Tim Faulkner , operations manager at the Australian Reptile Park, north of Sydney, was one of three workers tending to the lawn in Elvis' enclosure when he heard reptile keeper Billy Collett yelp. Faulkner looked up to see the 16-foot (5-meter), 1,100-pound (500-kilogram) crocodile lunging out of its lagoon at Collett, who warded the creature off with his mower. "Before we knew it, the croc had the mower above his head,"

10 Weirdest Fruits

List by: David Dietle

If you grew up American, like me, then your typical idea of “Tropical Fruit” was bananas and the occasional kiwi. When I was a kid, pineapples were something you rarely saw in a grocery store and mangos were something mentioned in movies or songs and I just assumed they didn’t exist for real and I just assumed Sesame Street and Don Ho were lying to me. The internet has effectively erased the borders when it comes to things like a country’s native foods, and the global distribution of goods has brought the weird to our neighborhood food dispensaries. Here are 10 bizarre fruits that people actually eat, that we otherwise never would have heard of.

Kids See Things Differently

If you are a parent, you have most likely smiled more than once while thinking about how your child views the world. I think it's safe to say that kids look at things a lot differently than us grown-ups. Jeff Wysaski knows all about how kids view things differently than adults. His adult vs. kid comparisons on Pleated Jeans really made me laugh. The difference is remarkable but I think it is quite true. It's amazing how seeing pictures like this can bring back so many memories.

Top 10 Invented Languages

by Charlotte Coville

Inventing a language from scratch might seem like an odd way to spend your time, but there are good reasons to do it. People create languages for scientific, cultural and artistic purposes: to test theories about how the brain works, to help people communicate, to ‘improve’ existing languages, or because they just need a new language for a book they’re writing. Here are some of the best examples of invented languages:

10. Solresol
Developed by Francois Sudre in the first half of the nineteenth century, Solresol is an example of an international auxiliary language: a planned, deliberately simplified language created in order to make worldwide communication easier. Solresol was the first such language to gain any recognition, but what really made it unique is its musical basis: it contains a total of only seven syllables, made up of the names of the musical scale (do re mi fa so la si).
This arrangement meant that words could be written in musical notation, and that the language could be communicated by singing. Syllables could be expressed in seven colors and easily ‘read’ by the illiterate. Unfortunately, Solresol never really took off, although some devoted fans remain today.

Weird College Majors

"You have a degree in that??"

Author: Brooke Windsor

Most people associate college or university with the pursuit of certain standards of academics and the attainment of prestigious degrees that aid their owners in getting special jobs or careers that they will love for a lifetime and have pretty decent starting salaries in comparison to someone who just finishes high school or secondary school but goes no further. However, with the growth in random areas of expertise and incredible amounts of detailed specialization in already established subject matter, several institutions of higher education have had to spread the base curriculum in order to allow their students to compete in a world of new areas of study and unique fields of interest. Even though they may not openly promote or publish these very different majors of study in their colleges or universities, degrees are still there for the taking for people who look closely enough. Do you think that higher education is limited to normal things like English, physics, or psychology? Perhaps it’s time to think again and take a look into all the new and weird offerings of college and university institutions.

Gun Accident Pictures

Any firearm is capable of causing an accident regardless of the type of guns. Many recorded incidents had caused various injuries; rifles and bolt action guns primarily caused injuries to the face and hands of the handlers whereas revolvers and most guns cause injuries to the hands of the handlers.

The causes of these accidents vary, either because of manufacturing defect (which is rather unusual, though not impossible in modern times), to improper handling, blockage of the barrel or inappropriate use of ammunition (which is now on the increase)
Another factor to consider is the “reload”. If the amount of powder is exceeded it could very easily lead to the barrel burst, while the amount below the limit would not provide enough power to push the projectile out of the barrel, leaving it stuck inside which would cause an accident when the second shot is made

Strange Cases Of Demonic Possession

Author: Ben Dennison
Copyrighted © roadtickle.com

The phenomenon of demonic possession has persisted since the rise of modern Christianity. Sometimes passed off as mental or physical illness, the recognized traits of demonic possession include bizarre movements, changing voices, violent out bursts, speaking in tongues and others. When one is possessed by a demon it’s believed that the only way to remove the evil spirit is through the Catholic rites of exorcism. Below are four notable cases of demonic possession.

1. Anneliese Michel (1976)

Raised in a strict Catholic family, Anneliese was very devout in her faith. Her dedication went well above and beyond the norm; during winter time she slept on bare boards to make reparations for the sins of priests and drug addicts. So yeah, she was definitely on board with Catholicism. She also suffered from epileptic attacks starting when she was sixteen. It was almost as though God were punishing her despite her devotion.

10 English Words With Shameful Past

by Rick Raule

Words. Some of us interact with them almost every day. They’re inexpensive, portable and let us communicate our feelings rather well (like, say, the feeling of wanting sex.) Sure, you could always come up to someone and repeatedly jam your finger through a circle made with your other hand (while furiously raising and lowering your eyebrows) but words are so much more efficient. Unfortunately, it turns out that some of the words that we thought we could trust were lying to us about who they really are. Just like finding out that the lovable elderly man from down the street used to be a Nazi, so will the origins of these 10 English words surprise the pants off of you:

10. Wife
There is something inherently wholesome about the word “wife,” isn’t it? It makes you think of love, weddings, and picket fences or perhaps “wife-swapping,” depending on your preferred life style. (You know, the good things in life.) There’s definitely nothing shameful about being a wife. Or is it?
The precise origin of the word is uncertain, though some linguists have suggested that it might come from the root *ghwibh-, which means “shame,” as in “Dear God, look at yourself, woman. You married ME of all people? You should be ashamed of yourself.” Pretty sure that’s exactly how we got the word.
